On December 8, 2016, activities of “UK Creative Week” jointly organized by British Consulate-General Wuhan and Wuhan Municipal Government were kicked off in Wuhan.

　　In order to promote the creativity and innovation cooperation between UK and Wuhan City, many activities related to educational cooperation, cultural inheritance, music and art reproduction, tourism innovation and creative regeneration of historical districts will be organized during this event.
　
　　What’s more, Simon Gold, the Director of The National Theatre of UK , will pay a visit to Wuhan to speak glowingly of Shakespearean plays and direct “Romeo and Juliet” which is a drama performed by 30 college students from Wuhan. In addition, the English Concert, one of the top three ancient music societies in UK, will visit Wuhan during the “UK Creative Week” to provide the concert of “Shakespeare In Love” (an entirely new British Baroque music show) for audiences in Wuhan.

　　The UK-Wuhan Historic District Creative Redevelopment Seminar will be organized inside the Big House (an old British building constructed over 100 years ago) at the Linjiang Avenue in Wuchang District of Wuhan City. Chinese and British experts and scholars of historical buildings preservation, relevant departments of Wuhan Municipal Government, and representatives from Chinese and British enterprises will have a discussion on the renovation and preservation of old buildings and the sustainable development of historic districts in Wuhan.

　　According to Nick Whittingham, the Consul-General in Wuhan, the “UK Creative Week” is a result of multiple cooperation achievements made by British Consulate-General Wuhan and Wuhan government. This event will involve a wide range of topics including the culture, art, education, urban development and creative industry. The “UK Creative Week” will be organized on the 8th day and ended on the 20th day of this month, and local citizens are warmly welcomed to participate into this event.
