Recently, our city received Letter of Beijing Municipal Science &Technology Commissionfor Being Invited to Attend the Second UNESCO Creative City Beijing Summit issued by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, and invited the leaders of Wuhan city to attend the second UNESCO Creativity City Beijing Summit held in Beijing from June 5, 2016 to June 8, 2016. In order to complete the participation work of Wuhan, Wang Pucha, Deputy Director of Municipal Urban Construction Committee leaded to report relevant work of Shendu (Wuhan applies for “Design Capital” issued by UNESCO) to Du Yue, Secretary General of China National Committee of UNESCO in Beijing, and sincerely requested Du Yue of giving guidance.
The summit was held by UNESCO, Ministry of Education, China National Committee of UNESCO and People’s Government of Beijing. Wang firstly appreciated that China National Committee invited Wuhan to participate in the second Beijing Summit on behalf of Wuhan Municipal Government, and he hoped that China National Committee could facilitate the meeting of leaders of Wuhan Municipal Government and officers of senior officers of UNESCO during the summit.
Secretary General, Du Yue said that, although the difficulty of declaring Design Capital was increased, due to the special geographical position and historical culture of Wuhan, the National Committee actively supported the declaration work for WuhanDesign Capital, arranged the meeting of municipal leaders and senior officers of UNESCO, and he suggested that we should convene one international consultation meeting of declaring Wuhan Design Capital, made very detailed plans and preparation work, and invited the senior officers of UNESCO and urban representatives of Design Capital as many as possible to participate, so that the UNESCO could understand Wuhan as well as the declaration work of Design Capital of Wuhanmore.
Du reaffirmed the key points of Wuhan Shendu (Wuhan applies for “Design Capital” issued by UNESCO). Firstly, we should compile an excellent declaration text and fully embody the strength and level of Wuhan design creativity. Secondly, we should hold various creative activities, convene a series of high-end international forum, carry out international communication, and make the world understand Wuhan; thirdly, we should walk out and communicate with the city of Design Capital face to face, establish good relationship with them, and make follow-up. Through these activities, we should embody the advancement of Wuhan design, highlight the feature of middle central cities of China, enhance advantages and avoid disadvantages, and touch USESCO and city of Design Capital by virtue of sincerity and efforts.
Wang appreciated the suggestion of Du, and he said that he would plan relevant communication activities and make full preparations for participating in the summit according to the instructions of Du.
Sun Ming and Zhang Lu, the personnel of office of Wuhan Shendu (Wuhan applies for “Design Capital” issued by UNESCO) participated in the report, and presented the model of master workof Wuhan design, Parrot Island Bridge to Du.
