The “2013 Wuhan Lantern Festival Show” held in Wuhan Customs Building in Hankou becomes the highlights of Lantern Festival this year. Over 30,000 citizens watch the show on the scene and over 1 million citizens watch it at home via live telecast.
The theme of this Lantern Festival Show is “Reviving Wuhan, Shining Jingchu”. In the show, the four buildings of Hankow Customs, Best Century Hotel, Changhang Building and Hanting Hotel serve as huge screen with an area of nearly 10,000m², on which light shadow flows. And audiences cheer for the dreamlike scenes.
According to information, the Show yesterday was broadcast via TV and Internet, and was mentioned in the CCTV Eastern Times. According to statistics, hundreds of millions of netizens shared this tremendous light and shadow feast.

On the scene: 40 minutes of Wuhan Legend Show
17:30 yesterday, the reporter walked through Minsheng Road and to viewing area of the Show. There were many citizens taking food, water and cushions and waiting for the show.
19: 50, Areas A, B, C and D were ready for the Show. Over 30,000 residents stared at the Wuhan Customs Building and over 10,000 policeman and 4,000 armed police maintained the security on site.

What broke the darkness was a beam of brilliant colorful laser. The Show began with “Celebration of the Lantern Festival”. The dazzling light and shadow flowed on the Hankow Customs Building, stage curtain and Best Century Hotel, forming images of lanterns, couplets, riddles, new paintings and kaleidoscope. And traditional paper-cutting animation changed in succession and appeared in turn, creating a strong atmosphere of Lantern Festival and embodying the colorful folk customs in Hubei.
After the prelude for 10 minutes, the Show went to “Wuhan History” at the countdown by tens of thousands audience on the spot. It was dated back to 3,500 years ago. At the time, the sky was dotted with stars. A Phoenix flew into the sky, flew around the outer walls of the buildings, and finally flew into the clock dial in Hnakow Customs, turning to a red sun, which represented the beginning of Chu Culture.
Here was the “Travel Trotting through the History”: Panlongcheng, Battle of the Red Cliff in the Three Kingdoms, Jianghan Scenery Painting in Ming Dynasty, Wuchang Uprising of the Revolution of 1911, Uprising Gate, Wuhang Red House, Zhongshan Warship, Yangtze River Bridge, light railway, metro, steel making furnaces, energy ball, geared engine, robot arm, robot and other elements appeared one by one, fully reflecting the historical changes and construction and development of Wuhan in 3,500 years.
The 30,000 audience cheered for every change of pictures on the wall and the Yanjiang Avenue became the ocean of joy filled with cheerful voices.
After the end of “historical travel”, at 20:20, the curtains between Wuhan Customs Building and Best Century Hotel was removed and 2 DJs appeared and performed at places 20m away from the ground, making the audience cheer and scream. At the time, the laser beams became more intensive. And the Show finally came to an end after that.
