Beyond Book Story

  On April 23, 2017, the 81-year-old Dah Foo Commercial & Saving Bank will be changed into a Beyond Book Story bookstore, contributing to another new reading space with unique atmosphere of humanism to be opened at the Zhongshan Avenue. It is the first bookstore opened inside an outstanding historical building in Wuhan.

  Driven by opportunities brought by the reconstruction of Zhongshan Avenue, Wuhan Cultural Bureau firmly has invited Beyond Book Story to develop this project jointly. After half year’s preparations, this bookstore has been built into a new and modern reading space featured by historical and cultural atmosphere of Wuhan. This reading space not only integrates functions of the bookstore and library, but also has a collection of over 30000 books of about 10000 categories.

  The first bookstore of Beyond Book Story went into operation inside Renxinhui in Hanyang District at the end of January 2015. With a collection of over 120000 books, this bookstore has been developed into the “Hall of Knowledge and Garden of Poetry”. This bookstore has been praised as the most beautiful bookstore in China by netizens because of its unique space environment and humanistic atmosphere. The indoor space of this dark-brown bookstore is broad and elegant. Inside the bookstore, 6 unique and integrated functional areas are installed, including the comprehensive book reading area, food & beverage area, cultural creation & living product area, art & literature exhibition area, interactive experience area, and children’s reading area.

  The area of the Zhongshan Avenue Branch Store occupies is about 750 m². The majority of the space has been occupied by the book area where books on humanity, literature and art are collected. In addition to the cultural creation area and coffee & reading area, the reading area themed on “Treasure Box of Knowledge” of Wuhan Library is also installed. It is reported that the “Sunday Culture Salon” will be organized by Beyond Book Story on every Sunday when cultural celebrities will be invited to communicate with citizens. This Salon is opened to the public for free and participants need to make appointments.
