Daijiashan Makerspace Micro Assembly Laboratory

  Established in 2015, Daijiashan Makerspace Micro Assembly Laboratory was Wuhan’s first maker lab, where citizens could turn their creativity into reality using free-of-charge instruments such as thermostatic chamber and high precision multi-meter.

  Originating from the English word “Maker”, “Chuangke” refers to those who try to transform various creative ideas into reality and are not profit driven. In 2010, China’s first maker space “Shanghai Xinchejian Hackerspace” was created, which was then followed by organizations such as Beijing Makerspace and Shenzhen Chaihuo Maker Space. 

  Micro Assembly Laboratory is a new experiment initiated by the Center for Bits and Atoms of MIT in the United States; it has a small-scaled factory capable of manufacturing also any product and tool.

  Situated within Wuhan Municipal Daijiashan Sci-tech Enterprise Incubator, Daijiashan Makerspace Micro Assembly Laboratory covers an area of about 200 m2 and functions in terms of inquiry, testing, assembly and exchange. Within the lab, there are more than ten industrial-level experimental instruments including constant temperature and humidity chamber, high precision multi-meter, oscilloscope, thermal infrared imager, noise-measuring instrument, electron microscope, and ultrasonoscope, with a total value exceeding 300 thousand Yuan.

  Apart from experimental instruments, the lab is also equipped with fabrication tools. In there, makers can DIY “creativity” into “product”.  Information such as Sci-tech supply and demand, as well as intellectual property can be inquired directly after login from the Sci-tech Information Sharing Service Platform in the lab.

  All experimental instruments and assembly tools in the lab can be used free of charge. Citizens of creative ideas may go there and try them out. If successful, they may also search the information platform available to find whether there are enterprises that are interested in acquisition, or apply for patent.
