On December 12th of 2015, the results of China Jewelry Valley - Jewelry Design Competition were announced. The design titled Fu Re (lit. latent heat) created by a graduate student from Gemmological Institute, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) won the highest "Jewelry Valley Cup" award. Another 8 participants won the first, second, and third prizes as well as individual awards for best creativity, popularity, and commercial value.

　　It is reported that the "Jewelry Valley Cup" is not only the first jewelry design competition in Central China, but also the biggest one since the "China Jewelry Valley" project started. The competition aims at scouting for a new generation of creative jewelry design talent so as to allow Wuhan's jewelry design to go global. Since the collection of designs from around the world began in May of 2015, a total of 328 designers and students from 45 countries and regions have submitted their works. Sponsored jointly by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Wuhan Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the competition was undertaken jointly by Wuhan University of Engineering Science and Wuhan Jewelry Culture & Tourism Industry Investment Co., Ltd. affiliated with China University of Geosciences.
