The first "Yellow Crane Cup" Industrial Design Competition was held by Wuhan Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology in 2015. The competition was designed to collect design works from industrial enterprises, industrial design enterprises or institutions, higher education institutions, research institutes, and individuals in our city. The works are divided based on the industries into three categories: electronic information, equipment manufacturing, and light industry & daily necessities. After four months of evaluation, 87 works including intelligent health integrated machine and Water Safeguard won the first, second, and third prizes along with excellence awards among the 783 works from schools and enterprises.

　　On November 10th of 2015, the Wuhan Industrial Design Week Launching Ceremony and the first "Yellow Crane Cup" Industrial Design Competition Award Ceremony were held in Wuhan. In addition to the launching and award ceremonies, the competition organizing committee invited famous people, experts, and scholars from the industrial design community to join its efforts in holding the industrial design innovation forum, providing industrial design talent training, holding exhibitions of excellent works, promoting the competition in the institutions of higher learning, and offering advice for driving forward the industrial design development in Wuhan.
　
　　Wuhan Industrial Design Week and the first "Yellow Crane Cup" Industrial Design Competition serve as a platform for people in the industrial design community to exchange ideas and information and learn from each other. Serving to make designs usable and marketable, the event plays an important role in implementing the innovation-driven development strategy, pushing ahead with the industrial design development in Wuhan, and accelerating industrial upgrading.
