Project Overview
Urumqi new railway station is located in Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone, including 16-station platform and 18 lines, the total area of the station is 100,000 square meters while the canopy projection area is 70,000 square meters, the total investment is 2.6 billion. After the completion, the new passenger station in Urumqi will become the modes of transport integrated passenger transport hub as the center, set urban rail transit, long-distance vehicles, public transportation, taxis and social vehicles and other transport facilities.

Site planning
From the urban design point of view, based on the circular volume for the architectural form, it is to the building boundary and the urban texture of the organic coordination.
The south and north sides of the site height difference is 20 meters, the platform design elevation is 834 meters, combined with the status of the site, the planning of the South Plaza elevation is 834 meters high, the north square elevation is 824 meters high, South Square are at the platform level while the North Square is at the station level , elevated lanes and urban expressway network to form a multi-level three-dimensional convergence.

·Design Concept
Urumqi station is designed from Urumqi unique urban characteristics, embodying the western city’s the most modern and most international city image. The architecture expresses the image of openness, harmony, concision and fluency and stretch of the atmosphere.
The architectural design embodies the design imagery of ‘Tianshan Snow Sea, Silk Road Pearl’, which rises in a streamlined shape from the earth, like a bright pearl in the Western Regions. The building is horizontally stretched into the city skyline, reflecting the magnificent beauty of Tianshan Snow Sea, the long history of Silk Road, the desert’s vast expanse of sand. The base and roof shape echoes together constitute an open and inclusive building image.
As the ancient important city on the Silk Road, in recent years, Urumqi is rapidly rising as China's bridgehead for Western Asia. Relying on the irreplaceable location of the gateway to the northwest, as well as high-speed rail hub comprehensive transportation advantages, High-speed rail area will become the powerful core and strategic hub of Central Asia and Xinjiang.
