Located in Simenkou, Wuchang district, the Hubu Lane Han-flavored Feature Street borders the Ten-li Long Street (Jiefang Road) on the east, opens to the vast Yangtze River on the west, faces the Yellow Crane Tower on the south, and leads to the Dufudi red scenic spot on the north. Surrounded by famous street, tower, scenic spot and river, it is a food paradise on the land of heavenly abundance and exceptional talents.

Taken shape in the Ming Dynasty, Hubu Lane got its name in the Qing Dynasty for being adjacent to Fantai Administrative Office (corresponding to Hubu Administrative Office in Beijing). Due to historical and geographical reasons, Hubu Lane has long been known for selling Han-flavored breakfast, such as hot dry noodles, fish soup rice noodles with pepper, beef noodles and rice noodles, Chinese doughnut and steamed dumpling filled with minced meat and gravy. Since 2002, Hubu Lane has been comprehensively renovated so as to accentuate its positioning of being the “No. 1 Lane of Han-flavored breakfast” under the initiative of rebuilding famous historical and cultural towns carried out by the Wuchang district government. After years of construction and renovation, Hubu Lane is no longer what it used to be, a small 147-meter long and 3-meter wide alley of 12 snack stands. It has been developed into a Han-flavored food street block, comprised of the former Hubu Lane, the middle section of Ziyou Road, the western end of Minzhu Road, and the south section of Dufudi Road. Integrating snacks, leisure, shopping and recreation, it hosts tens of millions of tourists annually. It has over 530 various outlets among which more than 300 are snack shops selling over one thousand specialty delicacies.

As the “No. 1 Lane of Han-flavored breakfast” becomes increasingly better known, a batch of century-honored snack enterprises were attracted to cluster here, including Greater China Restaurant, Sijimei Soup Dumpling, Cailinji Hot Dry Noodles, and Laoqianji Bean Noodles. Other Han-flavored snack brands such as Kingwuu and Zhouheiya also have established presence here. Ten other local Han-flavored snack brands originated in Hubu Lane including Shitouji Hot Dry Noodles, Chenji Beef Noodles, Xusao Fish Soup Rice Noodles, Jingchu Soup Dumpling, and Duohuzhai Tofu Skin have also contributed to its fame, making Hubu Lane synonymous with Han-flavored snacks. Moreover, it has become the much preferred destination and a must visit Chinese Han-flavored snack street for non-local tourists visiting Wuhan and even Hubei province, for it is indeed a paradise where tourists can climb prestigious tower, shop along well-known street, taste famous delicacies and view fascinating landscape in the old town of Wuchang.

After years of building, the featured street block of Hubu Lane has gained rapid development, which has not only created many job opportunities but has also made many people better off. Given its satisfying achievements in developing tourism, it has become an attractive name card for Wuhan and even Hubei provincial tourism. Meanwhile, it has improved urban landscape, raised city image, and realized the organic unity of economic, environmental and social benefits. It has been awarded “Happy Wuhan River City’s Top Ten Famous Street” for being the “reddest” and “hottest” tourist street block. It is one of the ten fantastic scenic spots recommended by the Wuhan Municipal Tourism Bureau. It has been awarded “Home to Wonders Top Ten Promising Tourist Spot”, “Municipal Famous Trademark”, and “Provincial Famous Trademark” by the Provincial Tourism Administration. Hubu Lane has been awarded titles such as “Wuhan Municipal Re-employment Demonstration Base”, “Wuchang District Entrepreneurship for Employment Demonstration Base”, “High Speed Train Tourism’s Desired Destination in Wuhan”, Wuhan Municipal “Women Entrepreneurship Base”, Wuhan Top Ten Leisure Tourism Street Block, Wuhan Municipal Feature Tourism Street Block, Hubei Provincial Famous Tourist Street, and National Tourism Standardization Pilot Demonstration Street Block Excellent Unit.
